All mobile versions utilize Austin's unique, patented technology and state-of-the-art techniques, originally developed for the popular 500C antenna to provide broad communications abilities in a wide variety of frequency ranges.
The 500C family of antennae employs a unique Austin patented design, utilizing state-of-the-art resonant cavity techniques to achieve high performance. The VHF/Microwave element is operational as a ground independent 1/2 wave radiator. It is isolated from the feedline by the resonant cavity, which also produces a 50 ohm match. This isolation, combined with the elevation of the feed point, produces a superior radiation pattern in a
spherical envelope for excellent satellite reception. Because the antenna is ground independent and does not require a metal ground plane, it is equally efficient on handheld units, fiberglass structures, or normal mobile applications. Antennae are available to receive or transmit over a broad range from UHF to
GHz, allowing coverage for assigned commercial and personal frequencies.
