VX-Trunk III Radiotelephone Trunking System
The VX Trunk III trunking system is designed for mobile radio telephone systems to
provide mobile-to-mobile and mobile-to-landline calling at a cost lower than cellular or
800 MHz trunking systems.
The VX Trunk III system consists of two proprietary components: the VTS-300
Base Station Controller, a telephone interconnect terminal that fits into a
standard 19-inch rack mount enclosure, and a series of mobile and/or portable radios
converted via custom logic boards for VX Trunk III use. The VX Trunk III system manages
radio traffic by scanning all system channels then identifying and locking on "open" channels. It
provides a full range of telephone interconnect capabilities,
mobile-to-mobile calling to individuals and groups, and accommodates up to
16 channels with a total system capacity of 1,100 subscribers*. Trunked channel controllers can be
located at a single site for easy maintenance, or multiple sites for
extended coverage.

Mobile to Landline Calls
Calls from radio subscribers to landline telephones are initiated
by dialing a single digit routing number, followed by the * button
on the DTMF microphone or keypad. This begins a channel search
which scans all system channels until an open channel is found.
Once an open channel is verified, a dial tone is heard and then
the desired telephone number can be dialed. |

Landline to Mobile Calls
To call a mobile unit from a landline telephone, simply dial the
system telephone number. At the "beep" tone, dial the
four digit subscriber number. The VX-Trunk III controller will
ring the mobile unit(s) and make connection. Both DTMF and rotary
telephones can be used with the VX-Trunk III system |

Mobile to Mobile Calls
These calls are handled in a similar fashion as mobile to
landline calls but with a different routing digit. Once an open
channel is found, a "beep" tone is heard. Entering the
called subscriber number completes the connection. In this mode
the base station acts as a repeater. |

Group Calling
Group calling is possible from either landline or mobile units.
The procedure is similar to landline-to-mobile or
mobile-to-mobile calling. The "Group Call" function
can be easily programmed into the VX-Trunk III system, adding an
extra communications dimension not found in most cellular
systems. |
