Note: The FIF-8 provides the necessary voltage conversion to allow re-programming/upgrading of the internal flash ROM on chip firmware of the Vertex Standard VX-800, VX-600, VX-900, VX-4000, VX-5500 and VX-6000 transceivers from the serial port of a personal computer. Any regulated DC power supply (15 -18 VDC  1A max) can be used for the FIF-8 in place of the PA-21 or PA-23 AC adapter. Be sure to use the Correct Polarity when making connections: the center pin of the power Jack is positive (•) if you're not using the PA-23B adapter.
