12 Digit Alphanumeric Display:
The 12 digit alphanumeric display is the right balance between characters length and readability. In critical situations, you need fast, reliable and accurate information.
501 Channels:
Whatever your Channel / Group configurations are, the 501 channel capacity in any group configuration has got you covered. Managed in up to 32 Groups, the VX-4200 makes it easy to go from channel 3 to channel 302.
Emergency Trigger:
Built into the front face of the radio is an embedded microphone. This microphone is used during the emergency operation. This built in emergency operation allows the radio operator to trigger, (via a front panel key, or remotely through the DB 15 accessory connector), the emergency mode. In the initial programming, the dealer can consult with the end user to determine which of emergency functions they want. A partial list of options are: TX Live Mic time, RX live/dead Time, Emergency “goto” channel, emergency ANI.
DTMF ANI Encoder
Automatic Number Identification (ANI) via an automatic DTMF Encoder is also provided among the
VX-4200's versatile signaling capabilities.
Versatile Scanning
A wide range of set-up options are available during configuration of the
VX-4200, to ensure compatibility with the operating requirements of your system's users.
Programmable Front Panel Keys
Custom assignment of important functions to front panel keys is available at the time of programming, to provide the most ergonomically-friendly transceiver available today.
PC Programmable
All frequencies and configuration data may be programmed directly from a
PC using the optional
VPL-1 Programming Kit and CE47 Programming Software (Windows).
Programmable Alert Tones
Among the useful set-up options for the VX-4200 is
the capability to customize the "Alert" tones generated from the transceiver, for ease of recognition by the user.
Emergency Mode
When activated, the "Emergency" feature sends out the DTMF ANI, and cycles between transmit and receive, to serve as an emergency beacon to alert the dispatcher as to the need for immediate
aid.

2-Tone ENCODE:
2-tone encode has been added as a standard feature on this new mobile series. Function keys can be programmed to send specific pairs or you can use the “Code Up” key to scroll through more than 30 unique pairs. Each pair having it’s own 12 digit alpha tag !
2-Tone DECODE:
2-tone decode has also been added as a standard feature. The VX-4200 series mobiles can decode well over 10 unique 2-tone pairs. Each pair can have it’s own alpha tag for easier recognition.
5/6 Tone features:
The built in 5/6 tone features allow for over the air kill and revive for lost/stolen radios. Other features include remote listen, emergency activation, 100 status messages, and many more.
ARTS™ Feature
The Auto-Range Transponder System, a Vertex Standard exclusive, alerts the operator when another
ARTS™-equipped station (for example, a hand-held unit) moves out of communication range. You can then advise the other user to move to a better location.
TOT, BCLO, BTLO Features
Among the most useful protection features of the VX-4200 are the transmitter Time-Out Timer (TOT), Busy Channel Lock-Out (BCLO), and Busy Tone Lock-Out (BTLO), to ensure efficient network performance at all times.
Rugged, Die-cast Construction
The VX-4200's circuitry is housed within a die-cast aluminum enclosure, which doubles as a heat sink. This extraordinarily durable construction ensures many years of reliable operation, even in high-vibration installations.
MIL-Spec Rated (MIL 810 C/D/E)
The ultra-rugged design of the VX-4200 Series allows it to be fully compliant with the exacting specifications of MIL 810 C, D, and E, pursuant to the test procedures documented below.
Compander Included
For narrow-band channel applications, the built-in Audio Companding system compresses the voice waveform during transmission, and expands it during reception, allowing full-sounding audio despite the restricted transmission bandwidth.
