VC-25 Operating Instructions
The Vertex Standard VC-25 plugs into most hand-held transceiver
speaker/microphone jacks, and does not require external VOX circuitry to
operate, since it is built-in. The in-line control module permits
adjusting VOX gain, and also permits manual PTT operation. The lightweight
headset contains a foam-padded speaker for comfortable listening, and the
earpiece/boom mic. can be adapted for left- or right-sided operation.
To use the VC-25, insert the plug into the MIC/EAR or MIC/SP jack of your
hand-held transceiver. Clip the in-line module to a comfortable location
on your clothing. Put on the headset, and gently adjust the flexible boom
microphone so that the foam-covered mic. element is about 2-4cm from your
mouth. Adjust the length of the metal rail so the headset speaker is
centered over one ear, and the "T" shaped pad rests just above the other.
Slide the 2-position switch (3) to the VOX position, then speak in a natural
voice, and adjust the GAIN control (2) so that the transmitter is
activated. Experiment with the gain control to find an optimum setting so
only your voice activates the transmitter, but not background noise. You
may need to adjust this setting for different operating locations (when
outdoors, for example).
For normal PTT operation, slide the switch to the PTT position, and press
the PTT switch (1) located just above to activate the transmitter.
