WHY THE WILSON 5000
PERFORMS BETTER |

The "Wilson 5000" is the top performing base loaded CB antenna for the automobile. Wilson used the basic design of the Wilson Trucker 5000 with the exclusive low loss coil and proven performance qualities of the Wilson
1000. The Wilson trademark of designing an antenna with maximum efficiency is continued in the Wilson 5000.
Extensive research and engineering efforts showed that a 6 gauge solid copper wire with a properly designed coil, displayed excellent performance characteristics. And though copper is one of the best RF conductors available - silver is even better. Wilson combined the best of both worlds by using 100% silver to heavily plate completely over the large solid copper wire. This means that using the Wilson design techniques, the Wilson 5000 will outperform all other base loaded antennas available.
With the 5000 made from solid 3/16" copper silver plated wire, and the design of the floating
coil it will not ice up, stop working or break, even in severe winter conditions. There is no chance of the coil windings cracking from freeze up.
The Wilson 5000 is over 65% larger than the famous Wilson 1000, and designed specifically for users who want the best in a high performance antenna and have the ability to withstand some power applied to it. The Wilson 5000 will handle 5000 watts AM, 20,000 watts SSB (ICAS ratings).
Wilson's engineering quality, design, and attention to details is the key to the high performance. The Wilson 5000's performance and power handling abilities will prove itself the first time extra performance is needed to break through noise on the air.
Over 25 years of knowledge and engineering experience in the design of antennas has made Wilson the recognized leader in CB mobile antennas, and the Wilson 5000 is now the choice of the serious

How to Mount the Wilson 5000
on the Trunk |
|
|
|
 |
Procedure:
- Loop the cable around the lip
of the trunk mount bracket so
bracket can be slipped on the
lip of the trunk.
- Place the rubber gasket
(900704) with the slot to the
rear on the bracket.
- Slide the trunk mount bracket
C on trunk lip and tighten the
two set screws on the bottom
lip underneath the trunk lid
with the Allen wrench pro-
vided.
- Close the trunk and screw on
antenna coil and install whip.
- Adjust according to tune-up
procedure.

Procedure:
- Drill A 3/4 or 7/8" hole in roof.
- Route the cable between hole and CB radio.
- Put body mount into hole.
- Place the roof mount gasket over the body mount on roof.
- Place stand off over mount.
- Place hex nut on mount and tighten.
- Screw antenna coil into place.
- Put whip into mast and adjust according to tune up procedure.

How to Tune and Adjust
the Wilson 5000 |
|
|
|
If you intend to operate only in CB Band, insert the whip 1" into the Antenna Adjustment Mast.
We strongly suggest you check and adjust your SWR before operation. If you have access to a SWR meter, put it between the CB Radio Antenna jack and the Wilson 5000 connector.

Tuning the Wilson 5000 |
Procedure:
1. Check the SWR on CH1, CH20 and CH40.
If the SWR is lower on CH1 than on CH40 insert the whip into the mast 1/4" more and check SWR. Repeat until SWR is the same on
CH1 and CH40.
(NOTE: In some installations, it may be necessary to cut the whip, 1/4" at a time, to lower the
SWR.)
2. If the SWR is lower on CH40 than on CH1 pull the whip up 1/4" more and check SWR. Repeat until SWR is the same on
CH1 and CH40.
3. It is important that the car or truck doors are shut while making SWR measurements.
Also, the vehicle should be at least 30 ft. from any metal wire or structures.
4. For amateurs operating on 10 meters cut 1-1/2" from the bottom of the whip (use a hacksaw), and adjust for best SWR between 28.3 and 28.5 MHZ. |

WARRANTY NOTES
The Wilson 5000 Base Loaded antenna is warranted for two years against defects in workmanship and/or materials and will be repaired or replaced, at the discretion of the manufacturer, to the original purchaser with dated proof of purchase or sales receipt.
Wilson supports an over-the-counter repair/exchange policy for the conveyance of the purchaser. Most warranty cases can be handled by taking the antenna and receipt to the store where the antenna was purchased. If inconvenient, the antenna and a copy of the receipt, may be sent to the factory at purchasers expense where it will be repaired or replaced and returned shipping paid.
Warranty does not cover damages caused by abuse, misuse, negligence, (i.e., hitting overhead objects), improper installation, etc. These are considered to be avoidable circumstances and are not covered by warranty.
The coaxial cable is warranted for a period of 1 year, and does not include pinching or cutting of the cable by the door, window or trunk lid.
All Wilson warranties are limited to the specific Wilson product only and does not include radio, vehicle or other external product. |

PERFORMANCE GUARANTEE
The Wilson 5000 Base Loaded antenna will outperform the antenna it replaces or your money back. This guarantee is good for 15 days from date of purchase at the original purchase point only, and with dated sales receipt. |

Magnet Mount Caution:
Small particles on car surface or bottom of magnet can damage the car's paint surface. Clean surface of car and bottom of magnet with a soft towel or rag before installing on vehicle.
When removing the antenna, grasp the coil portion of the mount firmly and "tilt" the antenna towards you. This will break the magnet force and allow you to lift the antenna off the vehicle without scratching the paint. Do not "slide" or "twist" magnetic mount while on vehicle. |
