The Ultimate Omnidirectional Multiband Station Antenna the Ferret is a Multiband Antenna utilizing state of the art engineering techniques. The Ferret provides coverage from 25 MHz to1.8 GHz. The configuration is an array of center fed 1/2 wave elements. Utilization of dielectrically tuned chokes, multi-tuned parallel resonant circuits and asymmetrical elements provides tuned transmit quality on band centers of 40, 100, 122, 146, 155, 315, 465, 865 and 1280 MHz. The Ferret can handle transmit power levels of 100 watts.
The Ferret is housed in a neat, lightweight, fiberglass radome. An aluminum mounting tube is provided for simple installation to mast or side mounting brackets [not supplied]. Mounting to the support mast can be accomplished with U-bolts or high quality stainless steel hose clamps (usually three works best). Be careful not to overlap the antenna with the support mast and don't over-tighten and crush the aluminum tube (replacement tubes available).
NOTE: THE FERRET ANTENNA IS A NON-RETURNABLE ITEM
MANUFACTURING PROCESS & PARTS AVAILABILITY CAN CAUSE 4-8 WEEK DELAYS.
To provide maximum performance at the higher UHF frequencies the Ferret is terminated with an "N" connector.
The Ferret can be modified on a custom basis to cover most special frequency requirements.
Use the highest quality coax cable you can afford to connect your antenna to your radio (minimum quality would be LMR-400 or equivalent). Use high quality silver plated connectors. You should consider having your cable made professionally if you are not skilled at assembling and soldering connectors. Use a string to run the distance first and add a few extra feet just in case. Keeping the cable as short as possible greatly improves performance. Often overlooked is antenna grounding. For lightning protection and safety be sure and run a heavy (#10 or #8) ground wire from the metal mounting bracket to a 6-8 foot ground rod using the shortest distance possible.
- Light weight and rugged radome
- Industry standard N-female connector
- 9 band ranges and transmit capable (100 Watts)
- Small footprint and wind loading
- Does not require ground plane
- Omnidirectional pattern perfect for scanning
- Will receive well outside stated band ranges (receive only)
